WHAT WE WILL FIND

The Valtellina Path follows the River Adda and has been more and more enhanced in the last years. There are also many parking area equipped with tables and games for who, during the tour, would like to have a picnic or take a rest. The recurring side accesses, that lead to the little near villages, give the possibility of visiting their old streets and squares, still unspoiled from the touristic point of view.

Morbegno, which is a very active village during many periods of the year, offers events which are always worth participating. The picturesque landscape of the fields, together with the river and the farm animals and the presence of ostriches will make the bikers enjoy the peace and tranquillity of the Valtellina for a special day of total relax.

THE TOUR

The tour, which starts from Sondrio, reaches Morbegno and then the Lake of Como, though the Valtellina Path. Mostly following the river Adda and crossing the villages of the valley floor we will enjoy the splendid view of the wonderful tops of the Orobic Alps and of the Raethian Alps. Once in the boundary between the two provinces of Sondrio and Lecco, a boundary that divides also the Valtellina from the Alto Lario (the high part of the lake), we will go towards our first destination: the Fort Fuentes. There, the professional guides of the fort will entertain us with the breathtaking history of that place (for about one and half hours) surrounded by the picturesque landscape of the Alto Lario and of the Pian di Spagna.

Then we will have lunch. In the early afternoon we will start again our tour in order to rapidly reach the Fort of Montecchio North, where we will be lead by competent guides into the history of the fort during the World Wars. Once finished the tour, we will come back by bike or, alternatively, we will go toward the railway station of Colico in order to come back by train.
